The holy Sikh shrine or Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara as it is known is located in the high reaches of the Garhwal Himalayas. Every year thousands of devotees head on the Hemkund Sahib Yatra after it opens in summer. Due to its location and extreme weather condition, Shri Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara remain closed for almost six months in a year. It is only in summer the shrine opens for public.
The Hemkund Sahib Yatra begins along with the opening of Char Dhams. The Char Dham Yatra usually begins in May depending on the weather conditions in the region.
Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2018 Opening & Closing Dates
This year according to Uttarakhand Tourism, the Hemkund Yatra will start from 25 May 2018.
Their is no fixed date of closing of Hemkund Sahib. The gurudwara usually closes as the winter sets in. It generally shuts a week or 15 days before the closing of Badrinath dham. The Badrinath Temple closes on Vijaydashmi or Dusshera.
