Khajuraho Dance Festival 2012

The annual Khajuraho Dance Festival gets underway in Khajuraho today. The week-long festival will see the performances of some of the well known classical dancers of the country.

Khajuraho Dance Festival offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the Indian classical dances in the backdrop of the magnificent Khajuraho temples. Travellers to Khajuraho can enjoy classical Indian dances like Odissi, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri and other contemporary dances by the budding artistes.

Besides the dances, MP Tourism also organizes the arts and crafts mela, where artisans from different parts of the state display their art work.

On the opening day, visitors can enjoy the Odissi dance by Sujata Mohapatra, the disciple and daughter- in-law of the Late Guru Padmabibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra, the legendary exponent of Odissi.

The dance festival is being organised in the backdrop of Chitragupt and Vishwanath temples, located in the western group of temple complex.
